PVCC Named Top Community College For Adult Learners

PVCC Top Community College

Piedmont Virginia Community College is recognized as a top community college for adult learners in the 2016 College Rankings. Washington Monthly is releasing this report in its September-October issue.

“Providing services and resources to support our students is extremely important, especially our adult students,” said PVCC President Frank Friedman.

PVCC is the only community college in Virginia to rank within the top 100 Best Two-Year Colleges for Adult Learners.  Washington Monthly’s 2016 College Rankings evaluates American two- and four-year colleges on criteria such as accessibility, flexibility of programs and student services.

“Many of our adult learners have full-time jobs, children and family obligations they have to balance along with their coursework,”  expressed Friedman. “It’s important that we provide the resources they need to be successful so that they can put more of their energy into the classroom and completing their programs of study.”

Out of the top 100 Best Two-Year Colleges for Adult Learners, PVCC came in at 87 on the list, scoring the highest in adult student services, ease of transfer and flexibility of programs.  Schools meeting the criteria for the list must demonstrate positive sores in ease of transfer/enrollment, program flexibility, services available for adult students, percent of adult students currently attending classes, loan repayment rates, and tuition and fee costs for in-district students.

Established in 1972, Piedmont Virginia Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees.  PVCC is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia - principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. PVCC is one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System.  Visit
