36-Hours in Kitsbow Film, “Not Quite Out of the Woods” to Showcase at Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival

PETALUMA, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2019) “Not Quite Out of the Woods,” a 36-hours in Kitsbow film shot and edited by Emmy Award winner Kate Geis, has been selected for  the 10th annual Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival on March 20, 2019. Geis also has been honored with the “Massachusetts Award” for best film that involves Massachusetts either as a setting, character or director.

The mission of the Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival is to inspire attendees to explore by bicycle, whether across the globe or a few towns away. “Not Quite Out Of The Woods” has been selected as one of the top independent films that depicts the adventure, humor and growth that is inherent in two-wheeled journeys.

"I’m so excited that the film is getting recognition from Ciclismo Classico and that more people will see Eleanor in her element - she is an amazing kid with amazing parents,” said Geis. “Running after a five-year-old on a bike was challenging, but she inspired me to keep up."

“When we first saw the film, we were blown away not only by Eleanor’s story, but also by the quality of work that went into ‘Not Quite Out of the Woods,’” said David Billstrom, CEO of Kitsbow. “Learning that the film has been selected for the Ciclismo Classico is truly the icing on the cake. We are honored and ecstatic to be along for the ride.”

Released in December 2018, “Not Quite Out Of The Woods” documents an overnight father/daughter bikepacking adventure and is told in the context of one family's journey through childhood Leukemia.

“Not Quite Out of the Woods” will debut on its first big screen in Arlington, Massachusetts on March 20 followed by Northampton, Massachusetts on March 28. After that, the festival will move to Pelham, New York on May 19, and Portland, Maine in December. For additional information on the festival, visit the Ciclismo Classico website.

36-Hours in Kitsbow is a short film series where regular riders tell their stories of how they rode near their home, for the joy of the ride, without spending a ton of money (or time) doing it.
