Family-friendly event on Sunday, Sept. 17, will benefit the local nonprofit organization BoysGrow and feature food, drinks, entertainment and activities from 12 – 4 p.m.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 7, 2017) – Lidia’s Kansas City is kicking off its 19th anniversary celebrations at the first-ever BoysGrow Fall Festival featuring renowned chef and owner, Lidia Bastianich, on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 12 – 4 p.m. VIP ticket holders will get early access to the event at 11 a.m. for a special meet-and-greet with Bastianich. Tickets are on sale now.

Throughout the past four years, Bastianich has supported the local nonprofit organization by hosting an annual benefit dinner at the BoysGrow farm. Entering year five, the fundraiser is transforming to an afternoon festival format, making it more accessible for families, fans and foodies alike.

New this year, the BoysGrow benefit will feature small bites, beer, wine and cocktails from local partners including Lidia’s Kansas City, Novel, Third Street Social, Local Pig, Westside Local, Shatto Milk Company, KC Canning Company and others. The family-friendly event will also include kids’ activities like a petting zoo, bounce house and face painting.

Event entertainment will include music by a local DJ and family-friendly activities like a petting zoo, bounce house and face painting.

BoysGrow is a local nonprofit that uses farming and agriculture to teach entrepreneurship to Kansas City’s urban male youth. The program gives young men an opportunity to earn a paycheck while working on a functional farm, and essentially run a small business, by selling their value-added products to local restaurants and grocery stores around town. Through BoysGrow, the young men learn critical vocational skills and experience an array of different potential careers including agriculture, culinary arts, construction and sales.
