Radiance Solar Announces Departure of Co-Founder and President James Marlow

ATLANTA, January 23, 2019 -- Solar contractor and developer Radiance Solar today announced that President and co-founder James Marlow will step down from his position effective today. Marlow will continue to be an investor and an owner of the company that he co-founded with Jamie Porges in 2007. Porges will continue is his role as Radiance’s CEO.

Since its founding, Radiance has built more than 350 solar projects in 11 states. Those efforts have helped to create a solar industry in Georgia that is one of the nation’s most progressive with more than $3 billion in investment. Beyond that, the company has helped to build a new employment sector in the Southeast, with more than 4,300 jobs created in solar engineering, installation, and management.

“James Marlow’s impact on the solar industry goes far beyond his contributions to Radiance Solar,” says CEO Jamie Porges. “He has been a tireless advocate for the solar industry in Georgia and across the Southeast. The rapid growth of solar in Georgia is due in no small part to his efforts. He will be missed here at Radiance.”

Marlow has spent his career on the edge of innovation. He worked with Lotus Development, which created the world’s first PC spreadsheet, and for ComputerLand, a chain of stores that sold the first personal computers in the 1980s. He was part of startup teams that created innovative products including Notes, Smart Suite and Signal. Marlow continued that work at IBM and as a Southeastern Director of Sales at Yahoo!

Marlow said: “My time with Radiance Solar has been a fantastic journey. I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve done over the past 11 years. I’ve spent my life discovering and creating the ‘New, New Thing.’ My goal is to live in the Path of Progress. I look forward to the next adventure.”
