One killed in Friday night motel fire; autopsy ordered

(Casper, Wyo.) - On Friday, November 13th at approximately 10:30 p.m., Casper Fire/EMS fire crews and medical staff responded to a room at the Topper Motel in Casper for a fire. Casper Fire Captain Justin Smith reported that crews arrived on scene and located a victim in the residence. Fire crews pulled the man out and performed CPR, and the male was taken to Wyoming Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at the Emergency Center. The Natrona County Coroner reported: *Michael J. Johnson, 56 years old, was pronounced dead at the Wyoming Medical Center **Emergency room on the night of November 13, 2015 at 22:53 as the result of a fire. Mr. Johnson **was found in a room at the Topper Motel near a smoldering mattress. A forensic autopsy is **scheduled at the Natrona County Morgue on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Next of kin have **been notified.* Fire Captain Smith reported that the investigation is still pending but they believe the fire was caused by a cigarette.
