Woman charged with larceny after allegedly stealing money from customers at Kohl's

(Casper, Wyo.) - Casper Police Department responded to two grand larceny incidents Tuesday where two Evansville women were arrested. According to court records, at approximately 11:57 am officers responded to Kohl's shopping center for a report of a theft. Dispatch advised officers that one of Kohl's employees, Tracie Montoya, had stolen about $4,000 from Kohl's while working there. Officers spoke with a Regional Loss Prevention Agent who reported that she had been working on the case at Kohl's and learned that Tracie Montoya had stolen $3,989.00 from the store in a three month span. The Agent had already spoken with Montoya and received a full confession. She reported that Montoya would make a 'no sale' of an item and then pocket the cash instead of putting it in the register, according to court records. CPD officers looked at a large file folder that the Agent had prepared, which included numerous fraudulent transaction histories. Officers spoke with Montoya who reported that she had worked at Kohl since about March of 2015 and did not start stealing money until September. She reported that she would wait until a customer made a large purchase in cash and then pocket the cash instead of putting it in the register. She stated that she knew she had taken some money, but did not realize it had added up to nearly $4,000.00. She filled a confession form and was charged with larceny. #oilcity #news
