Manor Heights' third-grade students carry on annual giving tradition

Manor Heights' 3rd graders are getting in the spirit of the season by giving back. As part of their 3rd grade Social Studies curriculum, the students are learning how to be a helper in the community. The 8th Annual Manor Heights 50/50 Raffle for the Salvation Army Giving Tree is underway. The kids are selling 50/50 raffle tickets to raise money to buy gifts for those in need through the Salvation Army. The tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. The drawing will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16th at Manor Heights Elementary. The children will use their half of the raffle pot to buy gifts off the Salvation Army giving tree on Dec. 18th at the west-side WalMart. Over the past seven years, Manor Heights third-graders have spent over $30,000 buying gifts for the Salvation Army Giving Tree, thanks to the 50/50 raffle and business/personal donations. #oilcity #news
