Santasaurus is coming to the Oil City

The Tate Geological Museum’s Holiday Open House will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will include “face painting; an origami ornament workshop; museum, prep lab, and Lee Rex tours; and the Shark Tooth Hunt, where participants can find and keep their own fossil shark teeth and shells. Kids will also be able to come and make a present to give to someone special at Christmas,” said Patti Finkle, director of museums. The ever-popular Santasaurus will be on hand once again, and those attending are encouraged to bring their camera for a photo opportunity with not only Santasaurus, but also the museum’s Dee the mammoth. Treats, including cookies and punch will be available, and P. Hawks Coffee Roasters will serve free cups of freshly brewed coffee and tea. The Casper College Geology Club will also be on hand with its annual bake sale. According to Finkle, proceeds from the bake sale will go to the club to help with operating expenses. The Tate Geological Museum Holiday Open House is free and open to the public. #oilcity #whatshappening
