15 holiday and winter safety tips with only 15 days until Christmas

Christmas time is coming! It is now only fifteen days away, but who is really counting? With Christmas just a couple weeks away, Casper Fire Captain Justin Smith provided us with a few Holiday Safety Tips to ensure a safe and happy holiday: 1. Be careful with holiday decorations, and choose ones that are fire resistant. 2. Keep lit candles away from decorations and other things that can burn. 3. Make sure to use outdoor lights outdoors, and Indoor lights Indoors. 4. Replace any strings of lights with worn out or broken cords, loose bulbs and read the instructions as to the number of light strands to connect. 5. Use clips and not nails to hang lights so cords do not get damaged. 6. Keep decorations away from obscuring walkways and doorways. 7. Be sure to test smoke alarms. 8. Tell your holiday guests about your holiday fire escape plan. 9. Keep children and pets away from lit candles and keep them away from decorations that could be a choke hazard. 10. Don't overload electrical outlets. 11. Keep matches and lighters away from curious kids. 12. Stay in the kitchen when preparing holiday meals and do not leave foods unattended while cooking. 13. Blow out candles when you leave a room. 14. Turn off all lights and decorations before leaving the house or going to bed. 15.
