WHP has released more information about Wednesday's crash along Hwy 220

Two men are dead after a fatal crash southwest of Casper, Wyoming on December 9th. The crash occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Wyoming State Highway 220 near mile post 73 approximately 38 miles southwest of Casper on the 9th. Mr. Brody R. Phillips, 23 years old from Vernal, Utah and Mr. Vernice E. Rayvon, 63 years old from Killeen, Texas both sustained fatal injuries on scene from the two vehicle crash. Phillips was driving a 2015 Mack commercial truck with trailer traveling east on WY 220. Rayvon was driving a 2016 Freightliner commercial truck with trailer traveling west on WY 220. Evidence on scene indicates that the eastbound Mack truck driven by Phillips crossed into the westbound lane of WY 220 that was occupied by the westbound Freightliner driven by Rayvon. The two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound lane of travel. Both men sustained fatal injuries on scene from the crash. Rayvon was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Phillips was not. The crash did cause a temporary closure of the highway with traffic being detoured around the crash scene. WY 220 re-opened at 2:00 p.m. on the 9th. Contributing factors in this crash are still being investigated. The two deaths marked the 140th and 141st highway fatalities in Wyoming for 2015. There were 147 fatalities in this same time period in 2014. #oilcity #news
