Wild bunch of skiers and shooters hit the trail whooping and hollering

Ten disabled Veterans came to the Oil City this week for some Biathlon training with the Casper Mountain Biathlon Club. [image: DSCF5333.JPG] Cathy and Rob Rosser of the Casper Mountain Biathlon Club told us that three of the ten were servicemen with the British Military. "They have traveled all the way from the U.K to train in Casper. Majority of the athletes received their injuries while fighting overseas," said Cathy Roser. Two of the athletes, including Casper local Omar Bermejo and Bryan Price from Missouri, have already made a Paralympic team and competed in Sochi, Russia, in the 2014 Paralympics. This was the first International camp that has been held by the Casper Mountain Biathlon Club, and with the construction of the new biathlon range, the club plans to host many more in the future. Wyoming National Guard Biathlon Team members and coaches also assisted with the week of training. The athletes skied on the Nordic trails and shot electric and air rifles at targets along the course. UK coach Elizabeth Wifield commented, with her British accent, "Wyoming is beautiful, and we are very thankful to be in such a great community. We are taking these injured service men and women on a recovery pathway through competitive winter sports. This training is to develop and inspire these great athletes for the Korean Winter Games." "This is just another fun tour and glad these guys could come train with us," said Rob Rosser. I have spend some time in the Rockies, and I feel in love with them, it's a perfect place and I love Casper." FnT4Jtocn/ [image: DSCF5321.JPG][image: DSCF5324.JPG][image: DSCF5326.JPG] #oilcity #news
