Lots of Holiday fun at the 'Holiday on the Homestead'

The snow did not stop the annual, Holiday on the Homestead from happening at the National Historic Trials Center. All the fun continues until two today. In order to help celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Wyoming Statehood, and a 1890’s Christmas, the team of historians provided fun, snacks and games for kids today. “This holiday celebration provides a great way to celebrate with the community, and to give back,” said Trails Center Director Chris Wilkinson. “Holiday on the Homestead provides a variety of educational and fun activities which are all family oriented.” The following is a list of activities for the event: - Old Time Family Photos – Dress up in pioneer clothes beside a pioneer wagon for old-fashioned family photos. Participants must provide their own camera! - Snowflake Carving – Visit the snowflake station and cut out your own snowflake to decorate the Center’s lobby! - Operate a Model Train – All Aboard! The Central Wyoming Model Railroad Association will be on hand to assist visitors in the operation of various model trains. - Visit the Prairie Sweet Shop and Homestead – Stop by the Prairie Sweet Shop and Homestead Cabin for delicious chocolate treats fresh from authentic Dutch Ovens. - Live music and Dancing – Local musicians, Anna, Rachel and Friends will be playing pioneer-style music starting at 1 a.m. in our theater. If you feel in the mood, stay and learn how to perform some traditional dances as well! - 1890’s Christmas – Come and learn how 1890s Christmases were celebrated! - Wyoming Statehood – Explore the Wyoming Statehood history station and learn more about this fabulous state we enjoy so much: Wyoming! ​ - Tree Decorating – Decorate ornaments, such as angels, to help our lobby tree shine throughout the season! - Hang out with Seymour the Antelope! #oilcity #snapped #whatshappening #news
