Casper College School of Business and Industry holds open house

*(Casper, Wyo.) -* The Casper College School of Business and Industry will be hosting an open house on Friday, January 29th from 10:00AM - 2:00PM to showcase the equipment and enhanced learning outcomes for the Wyoming Energy Sector Technology (WEST) Program at the school. Refreshments will be served at the open house. The free open house will begin on the second floor of the Nolte Gateway Center and will include demonstrations, tours, hands-on activities, and more. "We are excited for our business partners, community members and potential students to see what's new at Casper College and discover how leading-edge equipment creates leading-edge jobs," said Lesley Travers, dean for the school of business and industry. Equipment to be featured at the open house includes multi-process portable welders; virtual welders; electrical and control mechanisms for separation, treatment and carbon dioxide units; diesel engine system and simulator; thin section grinder; Juno 3B handhelds; CT4 handhelds; turbine nacelle learning system; carbon dioxide injection unit; welding robot; well planning software; and much more. Eight programs: welding, extractive resources technology, diesel power technology, geology, electronics technology, GIS, process technology, and renewable energy technology – wind, are part of the WEST Program. The program was made possible thanks to the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Grant Program through the U.S. Department of Labor, according to Rachel Chadderdon, TAACCCT project manager. Casper College was the only Wyoming institution to be selected from the pool of six applicants in the state who applied for the TAACCCT grant, Travers said. In January of 2015 Travers remarked that the grant, totaling nearly 2.5 million, "will create and enhance learning opportunities to serve more students, provide student retention and accelerate student completion.” Casper College , 125 College Dr., Casper, WY
