Council took a look at 'Zombie Trees' around Casper as well as other issues

(Casper, Wyo.) - "Casper is a well run city. It has a great history of Leadership and I am pleased to be here and I acknowledge the great staff for making me feel welcome," commented the newest city council member, Wayne Heidi. Heidi was welcomed to his council seat during Tuesday night's meeting. After a brief introduction of his friends and family, council went to work. First on their plate was approving a transfer of ownership and location of retail liquor license #21 from the Sandbar Lounge to Modern Electric Co. Council members unanimously approved the transfer, and it was reported by City Manager VH McDonald that currently the city has two 'parked' liquor licenses. Council then went on to approve all of the consent, resolutions and minute action items. Casper resident, Davey Reed took the opportunity during the public forum to address council on all of the dead trees around town. "All of these dead trees around Casper, I think we need to do something with them. Why can't we turn them into fuel?" Casper's new Mayor, Daniel Sandoval addressed Reed's concerns and commented, "We agree. All these 'zombie trees' standing in town are a safety hazard. This is something that we are absolutely looking at and something that we are going to have to deal with. It is becoming a budgetary issue and there is no way around it. But, this is an issue that requires a great deal of input from everyone before we are able to proceed." Council will be taking a look at the 'zombie trees' as the year progresses. The next council meeting will be a work session on Tuesday, February 9th at 5:30 pm. #oilcity #news
