Ames Travis Palmer

After a battle with cancer, Ames Travis Palmer, 67, passed away on February 4, 2016 at Central Wyoming Hospice. ​ Ames was born February 29, 1948 to Oatis & Mertis Palmer. He graduated from Natrona County High School and joined the Army where he served in Vietnam from 1968-1971. He returned to Casper where he lived his entire life. Ames married Leveta Moore in 1972 and had their son, Travis Palmer later in life going on to have two additional daughters Sasha Palmer and Jordan Bryan. Ames loved fishing the Wyoming lakes and rivers with many friends and family. Ames had a passion for motorcycles and the open road. He loved spending time with his family for any and all occasions. He was a true friend to absolutely everyone. Ames was always the life of the party with his one liners and foolish games. One of his favorite past times was having lunch and a cold beer at Butches Bar surrounded by his friends. He worked in Wyoming, Idaho & Washington for most of his days in the oil fields and construction. Ames was preceded in death by his parents, Oatis & Mertis Palmer, his sister Marian Prophet, sister in-Law Rose Palmer and great niece Laila Elizabeth Spethman. Ames is survived by his brothe,r Vere (Heidi) Palmer of Bozeman, MT, sister Marie Spethman of Casper and brother in-Law Adrian Prophet, his sons Travis Palmer (Shawna), and Mike Hinkle both of Anchorage AK, daughters Sasha Palmer of Casper WY. and Jordan Bryan of Phoenix AZ, grandchildren Alicia, Dalton, and Parker Palmer of Anchorage AK, Brendi and Hayley Hinkle of Phoenix AZ, and Cannon Hinkle of Tampa FL. Also, his nephews and nieces - Kandace (Scott) Wauer, Chris (Candita) Daniels, Julie(Greg) and Steven (Jenny) Spethman. Lee (Christy), Kevin (Jennifer), Shane (Lori) & Robert (Regan) Palmer and their families. Ames requested to be cremated. A funeral service at the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, with a celebration of life at Butches Bar, to be held at a later date.
