Casper Junior named State Youth of the Year at Boys and Girls Club ceremony

(Casper, Wyo.) – For the third year in a row, a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming has won the State Youth of the Year Competition. Amber Bennett, 16, was awarded the state title Tuesday, February 16 at a Legislative Dinner in Cheyenne. As the State winner, Amber receives a full scholarship to the University of Wyoming and will represent Wyoming at the regional competition in Texas in June. The Natrona County High School junior has been a Club member for ten years. Amber calls the Club her safe place where she can be herself, hang out with friends, and nurture her passion for art. She serves as the president of BGCCW’s Keystone Club, is involved with Gear Up and Upward Bound. She volunteers at the Tate Museum and serves as a mentor for younger Club kids. “The Boys & Girls Club gave me my voice. They showed me that I could be someone,” said Amber. “It is my vision to help as many as I can and encourage others to do so as well.” To learn more about the Youth of the Year competition, visit www.youthoftheyear.org.
