While oil and gas jobs fall, transportation and health care jobs rise in Natrona County

(Natrona County, Wyo.) - The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services (WDWS) published last week the 2015 2nd quarter numbers for jobs and wages. In that report was a breakdown of average wages by county, highlighting the irony that counties with the highest average wages (e.g., heavily oil and gas economies) are also the counties that have recently lost the most jobs. Natrona County shows that employment fell by 625 jobs (-1.5%) and its total payroll decreased by $7.8 million (-1.5%). Job losses in mining (including oil & gas), other services, construction, and manufacturing were partially offset by job gains in transportation and warehousing, health care and social assistance, and retail trade. ​ Read the full report here .
