Auto Dynamics fire caused by burning improper materials

(Casper, Wyo.) - At approximately 11:30 am Monday the Casper Fire-EMS department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 601 East E St. Natrona County Fire Protection District units were nearby and responded, arriving first on scene. Upon arrival, NCFPD crews entered the building and discovered a furnace and chimney that were on fire. When Casper Fire-EMS units arrived they assisted NCFPD extinguish the fire, performed search and evacuation of the building, and inspected the roof for fire extension. The fire was quickly controlled and then the building was ventilated to remove the smoke. Nine total fire apparatus responded to this incident including two from the NCFPD. Casper Fire-EMS department investigators determined the fire was caused by burning of improper materials and lack of maintenance of the chimney system. An estimate of the damage is not yet available. The occupants of the building were displaced while fire operations were in progress, but were allowed to return afterwards. The business is fully operational at this time. There were no injuries as a result of the fire. Casper Fire-EMS officials would like to take this moment to remind everyone that chimneys should be inspected and cleaned on an annual basis.
