Casper Police warns of IRS and active warrant scams over the phone

(Casper, Wyo.) - The Casper Police Department has taken numerous calls from citizens where they are being contacted and asked to provide money. Some calls are from someone saying they are with the IRS saying they owe money, while others are saying they missed jury duty and now they have a warrant to pay and there are many other scams. Residents are urged to not give money over the phone. If they feel they may have a warrant they can call the non-emergent number (235-8278) or check the City or County’s website to see if they truly do have a warrant. In cases of the IRS they need to contact the IRS. Again, do not send any money over the phone, do not purchase green dot cards or any other type of gift cards to pay these fictitious fines. #oilcity #news
