A new face to the Natrona County Public Library

(Casper, Wyo.)—Lisa Scroggins named newest Natrona County Public Library effective May 2, 2016. Scroggins has served as the Library Director at the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library in Rocksprings, Texas since 2008. She is also a former classroom educator, school district business manager, Sul Ross State Univeristy graduate, and earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from the University of North Texas. "When the Library Board met with Lisa, we were immediately taken by her enthusiasm and excitement for libraries as well as her commitment to the Library's place in our community," says Hampton O'Neill, Library Board President. "Lisa has a wealth of experience, not only in education, business, and managing a library, but also in working with the public. We look forward to her leadership of the Library." Scroggins, along with her husband, Al, and 10-year-old daughter, Allie Jo, look forward to making Casper their new home. "We're bracing ourselves for the wind and cold," she jests. "However, I was really impressed when I visited Casper. It's beautiful, the people are nice, the restaurants and stores are great, there's an abundance of outdoor activities, and the unity in the library and community is inspiring." Scroggins is also excited to be closer to family. She is already looking forward to visiting her Aunt Catherine and Uncle George in Calgary, Alberta. "It's a much shorter drive to Calgary from Casper. It'll be nice to live closer to them. We'd like to see more of each other." She also has a son, Tyson, who lives in Iowa and another son, Tom, who is currently working in Iraq with Lockheed Martin. Both plan to frequently visit her. As for the Library staff, Scroggins says the bar has been set very high. "It's obvious to me that the staff is doing an incredible job. I'm impressed by everything I've seen. I am not coming in expecting to make any immediate changes. Instead, I'm interested in exploring new opportunities, building on what they’ve already achieved." She continued to comments,"I look forward to speaking with the public and exploring ways the Library can serve the community." Scroggins succeeds Bill Nelson, who served as Library Director from June 1999 until his retirement on August 12, 2015. Interim Director Kate Mutch will continue to lead the Natrona County Library until Scroggins takes up her post in May. Mutch will resume her role as the Library's Public Services Librarian upon request. Feature Photo: h.t NCPL/Pitchengine Communities #oilcity #news
