Math; Science; Language and Literature; Wyoming Students worked their butts off for state

(Casper, Wyo.) -The Ramkota in Casper hosted eighty-three (83) high school students representing five (5) Wyoming High Schools this past weekend for the 2016 Wyoming Academic Decathlon State Competition. "These kids all worked their butts off!" said Laurie Davis event organizer. Schools who competed included: Burns, Meeteetse, Riverton, Star Lane Center Casper, and Wheatland. The Academic Decathlon Teams consisted of 9 students: 3 with a grade point average of 3.75 or above (Honors), 3 with grade point average of 3.0 to 3.74 (Scholastic), and 3 with a grade point average below a 3.0 (Varsity). During the two day event, Wyoming Academic Decathlon participants: 1. Delivered prepared and impromptu speeches. 2. Wrote essays demonstrating not just what they’d learned but how powerfully they could present an idea. 3. Were interviewed by judges who asked thoughtful questions about their past experiences and goals for the future. 4. Completed challenging timed exams (all relating to this year’s main topic of INDIA) in Art, Economics, Literature, Math, Music, Science, and Social Science . 5. A live audience cheered on the 5 school teams as they competed in the final Super Quiz™.
