Bernard 'Bernie' Knoll

Bernard 'Bernie' Knoll of Casper, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the age of 93. ​ Bernie was born to August and Edith Cooper Kroll on June 8, 1922. He grew up on a farm near Prosser, Nebraska, the fifth child in a family of seven. He attended school in Juniata, Nebraska, before becoming employed by Lilly Sand and Gravel. In 1942 he married the love of his life, Juanita Wicht Kroll. Together they worked in the Ordnance Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska before Bernie was hired by the Union Pacific Railroad. He transferred with the Chicago and Northwestern Railway to Long Pine, Nebraska and Belle Fourche, South Dakota before residing in Casper, Wyoming where he was a mechanic with the Burlington Northern Railroad until he retired. Bernie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Juanita of Casper, Wyoming, brother Leo Kroll of Grand Island, Nebraska, his children Tom (Eileen) Kroll of Caldwell, Idaho, Judi (Ron) Christensen of Kaycee, Wyoming; grandchildren, Bryan Kroll, Kim Kroll-Bowman, Scott Kroll, Lane Christensen; great- grandchildren, Karrah, Chad, Tyler, Stormi, Jace, Skye; great- great grandchild, Kenneth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will he held May 27, 2016 at 2:00pm in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.
