#Headsup: Construction begins on Elm Street

(Casper, Wyo.)- Today workers will begin replacing the storm sewer, curb and gutter, and street surface on Elm Street from CY Avenue to 15th Street and on 15th from Ash Street to CY Avenue. Workers will start work on Elm Street from CY Avenue to 13th Street moving to 15th Street from CY Avenue to Spruce Street once work is complete. Work will not begin on the sections bordering Dean Morgan Junior High until the end of the school year. Work will be done in two block sections with each section being closed to traffic. Access will be maintained for residents. Once work begins on 15th Street, parents and visitors to Dean Morgan Junior High will need to access the school via 14th Street. The project is expected to be completed by October, 2016. The existing storm sewers on Elm and 15th Streets are old and have become undersized for the area. The existing street surface also has substantial cracking and the curb and gutters are in need of repair. The $1.328 million project was awarded to Grizzly Construction, LLC, with WWC Engineering contracted for design and oversight of the project. The project is being funded by Optional One Cent Funds, water funds and sewer funds. For questions or additional information, contact Jason Knopp at
