Douglas bank robber identified by authorities as fifty-two year old male

(Douglas, Wyo.) -The suspect, Charles Mathis, 52, was stopped on Interstate 25 by members of the Converse County Sheriff’s Department and Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patroland taken into custody without incident. On Monday, Douglas Police Department received a report of a robbery at Points West Bank in Douglas. Members of the Douglas Police Department, Converse County Sheriff’s Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation responded to the area. During the extensive search of the immediate area and the remainder of the city, a suspect was located in a vehicle leaving the city and entering Interstate 25. The suspect was stopped on Interstate 25 by members of the Converse County Sheriff’s Department and Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Mathis was transported to the Converse County Detention Center where he is being held pending charges. The Douglas Police Department and the Converse County Attorney’s Office is working in cooperation with the FBI and the United States Attorney’s Office to formally file the appropriate charges. #oilcity #news
