7 reasons why Casper is a great place to get away

In honor of National Tourism Week, Casper is celebrating Travel and Tourism Day. So, we decided to look into what makes us the perfect getaway destination. We are the second largest city in Wyoming, yet we maintain our small town feel. Whether you are looking for relief of the hustle-and-bustle of big city life, searching for adventure, or just passing through, remember to schedule enough time to make your trip to the Oil City an unforgettable one. 1. Casper Mountain’s Rotary Park [image: RotaryPark_HDR.jpg] Located at the base of Casper Mountain, Rotary Park is a highly popular landmark. Whether you’re looking for wildlife in their natural habitat, or a simple picnic, this is a great place to enjoy nature, and it is a mere 15 minute drive from the City. 2. Museums [image: FtCpr Museum_HDR.jpg] Our city is filled with history, and we want to share it with others! Fort Caspar Museum, pictured, is one of our most notable locations. The Casper Museums Consortium has a list and details about the museums scattered across the city. 3. Hiking and Biking Trails [image: CityTrail_HDR.jpg] We have trails galore! Our variety of trails can take you to an array of locations that provide breathtaking views. 4. Music [image: Bandshell_HDR.jpg] We are a musical community, home to both the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, and the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. In fact, we are so musical that the Casper Municipal Band can be found performing at the bandshell in Washington Park on a late summer’s evening. 5. Rodeo [image: Fairgrounds_HDR.jpg] Casper also hosts the College National Finals Rodeo, where some of the elite Collegiate rodeo competitors meet every summer. CNFR 2016 is scheduled to take place June 12th through the 18th. 6. North Platte River [image: WhiteWater_HDR.jpg] With access points scattered across the Oil City, the North Platte River is a key point we can not forget. Fishing, white water rafting, guided fishing tours, and so much more can be enjoyed by this majestic waterway. 7. Wildlife. [image: Squirrel_HDR.jpg] No matter where you are in the Oil City, we have wildlife roaming the streets. From a gaggle of geese on the west side, deer waltzing through downtown, or a rafter of turkeys on the college campus, our wildlife sure seem to prefer the WyoCity life. Casper is a place of beauty and adventure. It’s the perfect place to find whatever adventure you are looking for. We certainly have a little bit of something for everyone. #colgrove #oilcity #news
