It is fun to work inside the YMCA; New facility is approx. 40% completed

(Casper, Wyo.) - The Spring sunshine added a warm feel to the Casper Family YMCA, as Caspar Building Systems and Haselden Construction crews worked to complete the concrete floor at the new Family YMCA building. Casper Family YMCA CEO Brent Kleinjan showed off the new facility and provided some updates on the progress. "Things are progressing nicely and we estimate that the facility is about forty percent complete. There is still lots of work to be done but crews are working to finish the concrete floor and get the outside paneling up and framed. Once the building is enclosed, we can fly and the weather will not be problem." Kleinjan continued to comment that the main entrance to the facility will be a polished concrete floor and the facility is very open and will have a nice flow for guests to move around. Caspar Building Systems and Haselden Construction Superintendent, Don Hakanson, commented while he watched his crew working on the concrete floor, "We are currently on schedule with the construction and things are coming along well. Our next phase is to frame the exterior walls, and we hope to be roofing in about three weeks. The hard part was getting off the ground, but it is a beautiful thing to have the concrete pad completed." He went on to explain that he has a crew of about thirty employees working in and around the facility working to stay on schedule. "We anticipate and are hopeful to have phase one completed by December, " said Kleinjan, "But we know things happen and we will have to adjust as we progress." The project is currently in the phase one stage, which Kleinjan estimated about $16 million to complete. Phase two is to include a pool, some racket-ball room and a childcare center, all dependent on future funding.
