Casper four year old helps Gov. Mead raise awareness for Neurofibromatosis

(Wyoming) -May is Neurofibromatosis Awareness Month and today Wyoming Governor Matt Mead made it official. Today the Governor signed a proclamation here in Casper declaring May 17th as Neurofibromatosis NF Awareness Day. Nationally, May is NF awareness month, and now May 17th is NF Awareness day. Casper mother, Sarah Adsit and her daughter Emmersyn, who has the disorder, was there to help Governor Mead sign the proclamation. "We have met several other families in Casper and throughout Wyoming suffering from this seemingly unknown condition as well. Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along nerves throughout the body and affects 1 in every 3000 individuals. That's more than Huntington's Disease, cystic fibrosis, and Tay Sachs combined," reported Adsit. "NF is progressive and there are no effective treatments or a cure. As Emmersyn's Mother, I am fighting for awareness and research into NF. This Proclamation signing will helping us shine a light on Neurofibromatosis," she concluded. Adsit reported that Governor Mead very genuinely asked to learn more about Neurofibromatosis, and graciously signed the proclamation declaring May 17th as NF Awareness day in Wyoming!
