Fire crews extinguish house fire, pot bellied pig escapes

(Casper, Wyo.)– At approximately 3:15 am Casper Fire-EMS units were dispatched for a reported structure fire at 3055 E. 8 th St. Crews arrived on scene to find a well involved structure that appeared to be unoccupied. Structural pieces of the building were already beginning to collapse including the first floor itself. The fire was fought from the outside of the building for safety reasons. Crews will likely remain on scene for most of the day today to monitor the building. While the structure was vacant, there was one reported pet (a pot-bellied pig) that appears to have escaped. The house sustained extensive damage and is a complete loss and the cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Casper Fire-EMS would like to take this chance to remind everyone that when dealing with any fire, the citizens’ plan should be to get out, stay out, and call 911 immediately. Fire can double in size every one minute which means what starts as something “small” can soon be deadly to anyone still in the building.
