North Platte River to increase flow by the end of the month; What you need to know to be prepared

(Natrona County, Wyo.) - The North Platte River is currently flowing at around 3000-4000 cubic feet per second (CSF). Flows are anticipated to increase to around 5000 CSF by the end of the month and possibly to 7000 CSF by the middle of June 2016. With the summer quickly approaching and Memorial Day Holiday this weekend, all users of the North Platte River should be aware of the increased flow and low water temperature of the Platte River due to the snow run-off flows. Make sure there are personal flotation devices for every person on board water craft and it is advisable for all to be wearing the flotation devices when using the river. The strong current and very cold water will quickly weaken a person who may fall into the river.
