Uncover that BBQ and get grilling! Here’s your checklist

*(Casper, Wyo.)* - Look, we know that there are plenty of Wyomingites that grill and smoke all year ‘round -- this post isn’t for you. This post is for the average Jane or Joe who wants to enjoy the longer days and warmer weather with some friends but needs motivation! Here's your BBQ Checklist! *The Hardware* Picking a grill can be daunting, so many to choose from and so many different prices. Look, you might be a master at the grill, but not everybody needs chrome, 12 burners, led lights, side stations and built in satellite radio! Think about what you like to grill, how you want to cook it (grill, smoke, or bake) and how many people you usually cook for when you’re grilling. It’s that easy. Here are 2 different options: *The Spirit grill is perfect for the beginner, budget-conscious food lover and those who just want a solid grill gracing their backyards!* *The Big Green Egg is a great option for any griller. You can grill, bake and smoke meals for family and friends!* Don’t forget your grill kit! Regular utensils just aren’t made for BBQ-ing. You can choose your weapons a la carte or in convenient kits. It doesn’t have to say something goofy on it, but an apron sure does come in handy when char, juice, rubs and marinades are all concerned! *The Software* Choose your menu according to your tastes and the event. It might not make sense to smoke a turkey for dinner on a Tuesday, but maybe burgers are too simple for your tastes. Whatever you choose, try to select a menu that can be mostly cooked on the grill. If you’ve never done vegetables or side-dishes BBQ-style, it’s time to expand those horizons! Avoid the heat of cooking inside and add some serious flavor. Don’t forget the drinks. Instead of the traditional soda (or, “pop” depending on whether you were born here or not) and beer, try a punch or sangria in a pitcher to avoid all those trips to fridge or cooler. You can also come by Porter’s , located at 3861 Denis Drive in Casper and one of our team members can walk you through grills, grill repair, accessories and even a huge variety of spices and rubs. Open Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and Saturdays 9am-5pm *Here’s one of our favorite menus:* Dr Pepper Grilled Chicken *Instructions*: Lightly oil the cooking grid and preheat the grill to 375 degrees. On your Big Green Egg® grill over medium high heat for 10 to 15 minutes on each side, brushing the Dr Pepper BBQ sauce (see recipe below) on the chicken each time you turn it over. Grill until chicken is cooked through and juices run clear. *Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce Ingredients:* - 2 cups Dr Pepper - 2 cups ketchup - ½ cup no-pulp orange juice - ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce - ¼ cup molasses - 1 tsp ground ginger - 1 tsp hot paprika - 1 tsp chipotle Chile powder - 2 tsp garlic powder - 2 tsp onion powder - ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes *Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce Instructions:* Mix the Dr Pepper, ketchup, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce and molasses in a saucepan. Season with paprika, ginger, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, chipotle powder and onion powder. Bring the sauce to a boil over high heat, proceed to reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 15 minutes while stirring occasionally. Use right away on your BBQ chicken, or store in your fridge for about a week! ENJOY! Porter’s Mountain View Supply Inc ., 3861 Denis Drive in Casper, 307-234-7727 #porters #news #sponsored #oilcity
