We Read provides new books for students to continue reading through the Summer

(Mills, Wyo.) - Sweet Summertime can not come soon enough for our Natrona County students! As the school year dwindles, kids are getting ready for Summer fun, and NCSD as well as many other organizations are working to ensure that these kids continue to learn and read all Summer long. Amy Russell, Elementary Tutor and We Read coordinator at Mills Elementary, commented, "NCSD's goal has been to get 100% of students reading by third grade. Here at Mills, we are at about 70%. The We Read program provides a new book to these kids once a month, they are able to build their home libraries and by third grade, they will have well over forty books." Russell and Mills staff hosted a We Read Summer send off celebration at the school and provided k-3rd grade students with three new books to help keep them reading through the Summer. "This is such a great program to help keep these guys reading, " said Russell. #oilcity #news
