150th Memorial Day celebration honors 1.2 million Wyoming Veterans

(Wyoming) - Many friends and families across the Equality state gathered in the new chapel at the Wyoming State Veteran's Cemetery to pay their respects to the fallen heroes of Wyoming. ​ With flags hung high all around the cemetery, whipping in the wind, the celebration began. Wyoming US Senator John Barrasso attended along with many other Wyoming representatives. Wyoming Senator and Vietnam Veteran, Jim Anderson, featured as the keynote speaker. ​ Senator Barrasso took center stage to honor Wyoming Veterans, "This is an absolute great turnout for today's celebration of lives. Wyoming's Memorial Day tradition is incredible and I am honored to be here today. Not everyone makes it home, and that is why were are here to honor those. I am here today to honor all who have served and to join you all in remembering those who have fought and those who continue to serve our great county." ​ Master Sergeant, Gary Cody also addressed the crowd and stated, "This is the 150th Memorial Day Celebration and we are celebrating the lives of the 1.2 million Wyoming soldiers who have fallen to protect our county. Today is about persevering and honoring their lives. Don't ever tell me to have a happy Memorial Day." Stan Lowe was also honored at the ceremony and then Senator Anderson addressed the crowd. "1.2 million gave their last bit of devotion to our country. Today we pay our respects. It has been fifteen years, and our country continues the war on terror since the 9/11 attacks.
