21st Annual Kids' Fishing Day this Saturday

(Casper, Wyo.) - 21st Annual Kids’ Fishing Day, Saturday, June 4 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Harry Yesness Pond located at 4100 SW Wyoming Boulevard. This free event is for kids ages 14 and under, accompanied an adult. Due to the popularity of this event and limited space, families with last names beginning with the letters N through Z fish from 9 a.m. to noon and families with last names beginning with the letter A through M fish from 12 to 3 p.m. Registration begins at event start times. There will be goody bags for all fishing participants - no one leaves empty-handed! Prior to the start of the Fishing Derby, Yesness pond will be stocked with more than 1,500 catchable sized trout. If possible, participants should bring their own poles and lures/bait. North Platte Walleyes Unlimited Club will have a limited number of fishing poles at the event for those in need of gear and Sportsman’s Warehouse and Rocky Mountain Discount Sports will supply bait. A special donation for fishing tackle comes in memory of Julia Barham. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Parking spaces are limited; overflow parking can be found at Crest Hill Elementary School located at 4445 S. Poplar. The fishing derby is sponsored by the Community Recreation Foundation in cooperation with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, North Platte Walleyes Unlimited, Wyoming Fly Casters, Grey Reef Trout Unlimited Chapter, Schwan’s Foods, Sportsman’s Warehouse and Rocky Mountain Discount Sports.
