Casper man sentenced to probation for strangulation of household member and domestic assault

(Casper, Wyo.) - This afternoon Casper man, Kerry Muggenburg was sentenced to serve four and a half to five years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary and six months detention, all suspended for three months of supervised probation and to spend time in the CRC program. Muggenburg was found guilty of strangulation of a household member and domestic battery, it was reported in court that the victim was pregnant at the time of the incident. NC District Attorney, Brent Johnson commented, "He does not seem to take these crimes seriously and I think the maximum supervised sentence should be imposed." Muggenburg commented after hearing the victim impact statement, "This whole thing could have been completely avoided. It was just one of those things that just happened. I am sorry for what I have done. I am not going to stand here and beg for a lesser sentence, I will accept what I am given." As part of his plea deal, he must successfully complete the probation or face time at the Wyoming State Penitentiary. He was also ordered to pay $1,500 for legal council. #oilcity #news
