Casper groups partner for weekend mountain bike race

The Casper Sports Alliance is partnering with Fatfish Racing to host the Casper Mountain Challenge an 8-hour and 4-hour endurance race on Casper Mountain on June 25, 2016. On-line registration is open now and will close on Wednesday. In-person registration can be made at Wind City Therapy between 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on June 24, 2106. Entry price will increase by $20 at that time. There will be no day-of registration. The 8-hour race begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 4-hour race begins at 12 Noon. Racers will complete as many laps of the 7.05 mile course as they can during the time. Individual, 4-person and 2-person teams can enter. One rider per team is allowed on the course at any one time. “This course is going to be a challenge to all racers.” Said John Giantonio, Director of the Casper Sports Alliance. “The trails have been improved since the race we held last year and we listened to the racers and implemented what they wanted into this year’s race. This is how we came up with the endurance race. The course is 7.05 miles long and has an elevation gain and loss of 1189 feet. We expect the fastest riders to finish a lap in approximately 45-minutes.” The first 200-racers entered will receive an entry packet worth more than $80. Entry fees for individuals range from $80 to $60 per person. Campsites for racers are available and normal Natrona County camping fees apply. The event is in need of volunteers who can be course marshals during the day and can contact John Giantonio at 307-234-5362 for more information. Volunteers will assemble at Beartrap Meadow pavilion on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. #oilcity #whatshappening
