City of Casper cuts forty-four positions; City aims to make future adjustments as necessary

(Casper, Wyo.) - Casper City Council and City Manager, VH McDonald, reported this afternoon that the city has ruled to cut forty-four citywide positions for the next two years to help balance the city's budget. Twenty-three of those positions will remain vacate and the other position employees were offered early retirement. McDonald reported that some of the positions included: - City Mechanics - Managers - Equipment Operators - Administrative Positions The Capitol Project's have sustained a, "sizable decrease," according to McDonald and the focus of the cuts is to the General Fund, which was reduced by thirteen percent. "We will continue to make adjustments as we go, month by month, " said McDonald. He continued to report that $4.3 million will be put on hold for the future. #oilcity #news #bootstrapped
