(Casper, Wyo.) - Oil City DockDogs, Wyoming's first World Qualifying Wildcard DockDogs competition, is set to spring as Casper Fire crews began filing up the 28,000 gallon pool today in the Commissary Mall parking lot. Dockdogs Event Manager, Frank Andelo and Sit Means Sit's Garrett Neufeld worked to get the wet weekends started. "Registration for the event continues tonight until midnight, and those looking to get their dogs registered can come register at 9:00 am on Friday. The weekend competition will coincidence with the downtown NIC Fest and dog owners have come from all over the country to compete for a spot at the World Championship DocDogs event in Iowa," said Andelo. He continued to report that throughout the weekend dogs of all shapes and sizes will be competing in three events: - Extreme Vertical (EV) a high jump event taking place Saturday night. - Big Air will happen all weekend similar to a long jump. - Speed Retrieval- A doggy drag race. "This dog sport is zero discrimination, we have had Chihuahuas, Yorkies, lap dogs and big dogs jumping. This is a great event to get your pup outside and involved," said Andelo. It is asked that if you are registering your dog to bring a toy with him to chase and all dogs must be on leashes unless getting ready to take the jump. The pool is forty feet wide and the run way is another forty feet, all thanks to Blue Buffalo Rig for setting it up. According to Sit Means Sit's Garrett Neufeld, "There will be some insane prizes, including hundreds of dollars in gift certificates from Sportsman's Warehouse, prizes and giveaways from Tractor Supply, Sit Means Sit Dog Training, K&M Pet products and a Yeti Cooler with accessories, donated by Driven Marine. The Yeti Cooler and accessories will be given to a local competitor who has the best jump in the Big Air event!" Come for the fun or register your pup to take the jump! Visit dockdogs.com
