33 athletes helped Team Wyoming secure the 17th spot at National Junior High Rodeo Finals

(Wyoming) - The National Junior High Finals for rodeo brought 1,049 contestants from 42 different states, three Canadian provinces and Australia to rope and ride for scholarship dollars, jackpot money and prizes. Wyoming rounded up thirty-three from around the the state to compete. The Junior High Division was created within the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) in 2004 for sixth- through eighth-graders as a feeder system into the high-school ranks, and now fields more than 2,500 junior-high students in 13 different events. The Wyoming Team placed 17th in the Nation! Girls Team took 24th, and the Boys secured the 15th spot. Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls who placed in the nation included: - Rayne Grant in the Pole Bending placed 13th. - Teegan Leno was 4th in the Boys goat tying and 5th in the Team Roping. - Colter Ellis was 14th in the Tie Down Roping. - Shae Halls was 19th in the Barrel Racing. - Riggen Myers was 17th in the Bareback Steer Riding. - Teagan Bentley was 5th in the Team Roping (with Teegan Leno).
