New State Historic Marker installed at Casper Airport

Earlier this week, the Casper/Natrona County International Airport maintenance crew installed a new historic marker on Airport Parkway at the entrance to the airport. This State Historical Marker provides an introductory/initial interpretation of WWII era Casper Army Air Base, and is specifically located to be accessible and highly visible to all guests and patrons of the county airport. It is a key component of organizational planning for the permanent preservation, interpretation and commemoration of Casper Army Air Base during World War II. This is a cooperative project between the Wyoming Veterans Memorial Museum, Casper Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, Casper/Natrona County International Airport, and Wyoming State Historic Preservation Office to develop the World War II historic resources at Casper/Natrona County International Airport as a heritage tourism destination over the next fifteen years. The Wyoming Office of Tourism Technical Assistance Co-Op Program provided the majority of the funding and matching funds were provided from the Casper area non-profit organization, the American Wars Commemorative Association. The labor for installation and future upkeep was generously donated by airport manager, Glen Januska. [image: c8cd9677-c779-43c3-98cb-ff14c69881ed.png] #wickman #oilcity #news
