(Casper, Wyo.) - Mustangs and burros strode into the National Historic Trails Center this morning to show off before the afternoon presentation. The BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Program (WHBP) are bringing a patio talk to the trails center this afternoon at 1:00 pm. "Up Close & Personal: The WHBP" will feature mustangs and burros from around the West The WHBP was established in 1971 for the protection, management, and control of wild-free roaming horses and burros on public lands. For the last several years, groups including Wyoming Branded, United States Wild Horse & Burro Association and Wyoming Mustangs have worked together to teach children and adults about wild mustangs and burros. Representatives from these organizations will also be at the Trails Center to answer all your kids' questions! Some of the animals, in accordance with the WHPB, are gentled, and then put up for adoption at BLM events throughout the year. Previous adopters will be present from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to discuss their experiences with interested members of the public. No animals at this event will be available for adoption, but information about how to adopt is available. The BLM offers wild horses and burros for adoption or purchase at events located across the country throughout the year. Click Here
