DDA digs in to continue the David Street Station
(Casper, Wyo.) - With a board behind to back him, Downtown Development Authority (DDA) President Brandon Daigle led the charge to break the ground for the new David Street Station Tuesday afternoon.
"This is a very big deal and we are honored to have you all here with us today, " said Daigle to a crowd in the empty area along the Old Yellowstone. "This idea was conceived in 2011 and in 2012 a strategic plan was put in place. It has taken tremendous effort and support from the City of Casper and many, many contributors. "
Daigle then passed the mic to City Councilman Charlie Powell who shared, "I don't use the term 'gamechanger' lightly, but that is what this new plaza will be for this community. I am proud to be apart of this project."
Downtown Development Authority Director Kevin Hawley also spoke and honored fifteen plus sponsors and contributors who have helped the David Street Station get this far.
"Just remember, this project comes from all eleven members of this board. These guys have donated countless hours, time, and dedication to this project. We would not have been able to get this far without this wonderful community and I'm not sure if it could have been done anywhere else."
The work is set to begin this afternoon and will continue in preparation for the August 2017 Casper EclipseFest!
