Spa of the Rockies massage therapist Andreas F. understands first-hand the therapeutic benefits of massage; in fact it was his experience as a patient that got him interested in massage as a career. As a young man in the 1980s, Andreas suffered from severe sciatica that at times left him immobile. After exhausting traditional allopathic treatments, Andreas ultimately found relief with a regimen of massage, acupuncture and yoga.
Andreas was keen to learn more and intensively studied Shiatsu, a Japanese form of massage that uses pressure at acupuncture points on the body to stimulate and redistribute energy. It is considered efficacious for a number of ailments including chronic back pain, migraines, insomnia, depression and digestive problems.
“I consider massage an art form. I never use just one modality in a session. I listen to what my client’s body is telling me and I tailor the treatment to meet the needs of the person I am working on,” said Andreas.
In addition to Shiatsu and acupressure, Andreas practices a variety of other modalities including cranio sacral, Swedish, sports, connective tissue and myofacial release, triggerpoint, reflexology, polarity, Lomi and Pohaku massage. He has been a therapist at the Spa of the Rockies since 2012. Andreas originally received his massage therapy license from the Hawaii Board of Massage in 2002; he has been licensed in Colorado since 2009. He also holds a certificate for Shiatsu and Acupressure from the Focus Healing Center in Freiburg, Germany.
