Lander Library Friends Association
Founded in 1910 when the Library opened

How does Lander Library Friends Association (LLFA) serve Lander? The Lander Library Friends Association is composed of volunteers who provide advocacy and fundraising efforts to enhance the service and program offerings of our local Fremont County Library. The Lander Library is a valuable resource for education, culture, and leisure for all citizens of Lander and surrounding areas. Recently, LLFA’s support of the renovation of the Carnegie Building has helped to provide Lander with a performance space where the community can enjoy movies, plays, and concerts.

How will your Challenge for Charities donation to Lander Library Friends Association make a difference in Lander this year? This year’s Challenge for Charities funds will support the Lander Library’s outdoor pergola project and/or the Carnegie Building live performance stage. These donations make it possible for the library to continue to make progress on projects that might be otherwise slowed if the library solely depended on government funding. Last year’s contributions helped to equip the Carnegie room as a performance space with a very sophisticated projector, large screen, and sound system.

How else can you help Lander Library Friends Association?  LLFA operates two used bookstores (known as the Book Nooks) and depends on volunteers to staff them. Volunteers are also welcomed to help with library activities, maintain the LLFA website, and help with Friends events.
What else? LLFA also raised funds to install a 200+ foot mural on the cove ceiling of the library’s main floor. The mural celebrates the history and diversity of Lander and Fremont County and is a gift to the community that future generations will continue to enjoy. The completion of the mural has created opportunities for many history-related, educational and cultural activities. As the mural is especially interesting to Lander visitors, LLFA has prepared a self-guided tour brochure that provides an excellent introduction to the history of the area. Other written materials and programs will follow.
