Cedar Creek Recovery receives coveted Joint Commission approval

COSTA MESA, CA – JULY 11 – Cedar Creek Recovery, one of the newest substance-abuse facilities in Texas, recently announced it has earned The Joint Commissions Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Austin-based facility becomes only the seventh facility in Austin to offer “Addiction Care” services with a TJC stamp of approval, according to TJCs Website.

“This is truly a great day for Cedar Creek Recovery and its affiliate company, Solid Landings,” said Michael OMahony, Cedar Creeks executive director and one of the prime architects of Solid Landingsexpansion into Texas and Nevada. “The staff has gone to extraordinary lengths to obtain this prestigious accreditation, and to see it come to fruition is incredibly rewarding. We take great pride in providing the highest level of client care possible so it means a great deal to see an organization like The Joint Commission recognize that.”

Cedar Creek Recovery is an affiliate of Solid Landings Behavioral Health, a Costa Mesa, Calif.-based company, which started from a single sober living facility a little more than eight years ago and has grown into one of the premier substance-abuse providers in the country. Cedar Creek, which opened its doors in May of 2015, is a 26-bed unit, which offers comprehensive, multi-diagnostic care catered to women suffering from alcohol and drug dependence, as well as other addictions. In addition to detoxification services, Cedar Creek offers RTC (Residential,) IOP (Intensive Out-patient), PHP (Partial Hospitalization) and OP (Out-patient) services.

“We are extraordinarily pleased that Cedar Creek obtained this very elusive accreditation,” said Steve Fennelly, CEO of Solid Landings, which, in addition to Texas, operates facilities in California and Nevada. “Everything we do at Solid Landings comes down to providing the best client care possible. I believe that Michael and his staff have gone above and beyond to meet our expectations.”

Cedar Creek underwent a rigorous onsite survey earlier this summer. During the review, compliance with behavioral health care standards related to several areas, including care, treatment, and services; environment of care; leadership; and screening procedures for the early detection of imminent harm was evaluated. Onsite observations and interviews were also conducted.

“Joint Commission accreditation provides behavioral health care organizations with the processes needed to improve in a variety of areas related to the care of individuals and their families,” said Tracy Griffin Collander, LCSW, executive director, Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program, The Joint Commission. “We commend Cedar Creek for its efforts to elevate the standard of care it provides and to instill confidence in the community it serves.”

Established in 1969, The Joint Commissions Behavioral Health Care Accreditation Program currently accredits more than 2,250 organizations for a three-year period. Accredited organizations provide treatment and services within a variety of settings across the care continuum for individuals who have mental health, addiction, eating disorder, intellectual/developmental disability, and/or child-welfare related needs.

The Joint Commission is one of the most prestigious, and rigorous, accreditation organizations in the country. A majority of state governments recognize its accreditation as a condition of licensure. Additionally, TJC accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations nationwide.

“From day one, the Cedar Creek team has stopped at nothing in an effort to achieve our primary goal of providing a safe and supportive environment so that those who have lost their way in the struggle with addiction can focus on their recoveries and regaining control of their lives” said OMahony. “This accreditation proves that we are doing just that.”
