Key Concepts of Lean Healthcare consists of four 2-hour modules delivered from February 11-20, 2014.
Lean management and methods can help healthcare professionals and leaders deal with today’s pressure of reducing costs while improving quality to deliver the best possible patient care in an increasingly uncertain future.
How to get started implementing lean principles and keep the effort on the right track is the subject of Key Concepts of Lean in Healthcare, a live online workshop presented by the nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI). The workshop will air in four 2-hour modules, conveniently delivered over a 2-week period between February 11-20, 2014.
Lean Healthcare Examples
Designed for front-line clinical and professional staff, physicians, nurses, managers, and senior leaders, the workshop uses many healthcare examples from various departments and patient pathways. The course will help individuals and teams who want to gain a better understanding of lean tools and the underlying philosophy of lean, and how they all work together to create a lean healthcare organization.
Each of the four modules is conducted in real time through lectures, slide presentations, videos, and Q&A sessions. The curriculum includes:
- The core lean principles and methods for healthcare, including error-proofing, value-stream mapping, visual management, A3 communication, among others
- Real-world examples and results from lean hospitals
- How to engage employees in continuous improvement
- How to create a no-blame environment
- How to get started
The instructor is experienced lean healthcare practitioner Mark Graban, author of the Shingo Award-winning books Lean Hospitals: Improving Quality, Patient Safety, and Employee Engagement and Healthcare Kaizen: Engaging Front-Line Staff in Sustainable Continuous Improvements.
