FL; March 18, 2014: Marc Hurwitz, founder
Investigations, has been reappointed for the second year in a row
to serve as Aventura Marketing Council Chair of the Law Day event scheduled for
May 14, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the North Dade Justice Center (15555
Biscayne Boulevard, North Miami). The keynote speaker for the 56th annual Law
Day program will be Congresswoman Ileana-Ros-Lehtinen. Business and community
leaders, members of local Bar Associations, elected officials, law enforcement
officers, numerous sponsors and students from area schools have also been
invited to attend.
Law Day is observed nationally each year in May to help promote a greater understanding of the American justice system and commemorate “a commitment to the rule of law enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.” The 2014 Law Day theme is American Democracy and the Rule of Law: Why Every Vote Matters, coinciding with the upcoming 50th anniversaries of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. According to the American Bar Association, this year’s theme “calls on every American to reflect on the importance of a citizen’s right to vote and the challenges we still face in ensuring that all Americans have the opportunity to participate in our democracy.”
“It’s an honor for me to serve for the second year as Aventura Marketing Council Chair of Law Day, supporting the efforts of the judges and staff at the North Dade Justice Center to organize this significant annual event,” Hurwitz said. “I also endorse their many ongoing initiatives benefitting the community including heightening awareness about crime prevention and recent changes in landlord/tenant law - of special concern to condo dwellers in the Aventura area.”
The Aventura Marketing Council (AMC), recognized as one of the most successful and progressive not-for-profit business organizations serving South Florida for over 25 years, has garnered accolades and awards for outstanding networking events, community outreach to schools and charities, and initiatives supporting positive growth in the business community.
“Marc Hurwitz is an outstanding member of the Aventura Marketing Council, and as he continues to serve on the Florida Bar’s 11th Circuit Grievance Committee, he is uniquely qualified to be AMC Chair of the Law Day event,” said Elaine Adler, AMC President. “His professional expertise extends to preparation of in-depth background studies for litigation purposes, and his volunteer efforts for the Florida Bar demonstrate his commitment to contributing to maintaining the high standards and ethics of the legal community.”
Hurwitz also currently serves as Chair of the Aventura Marketing Council’s Law Committee, created to provide a forum for attorneys and other professionals in the legal field such as paralegals, mediators and court reporters, to network, earn continuing legal education credits and join in welcoming guest speakers such as Ramón A. Abadin, President-Elect of the Florida Bar.
