Omaha, NE, (January 27, 2014) - If you can't find a rowing machine at your gym, they are generally available for reasonable prices. Travel nursing jobs leader, Aureus Medical Group, believes this at-home, easily portable exercise equipment is ideal for a travel nursing professional on the go.
There are a number of benefits associated with rowing machines, as they can provide an excellent aerobic workout when used properly. Need some more convincing?
A total workout
By spending your time exercising on the rowing machine instead of, say, the elliptical, you can burn as many as 50 percent more calories! Plus, the rowing machine puts more of your muscles to work, offering strength building for your shoulders and calves at the same time.
Shape magazine recommends spending 20 minutes total on the rowing machine, splitting the time up as follows:
- 3 minutes of warm up at a 2:30 pace
- 3 minutes of rowing at a 2:14 pace
- 2 minutes of rowing at a 2:12 pace
- 1 minute of rowing at a 2:10 pace
- 1 minute of stretching
- 4 minutes of rowing at a 2:12 pace
- 3 minutes of rowing at a 2:10 pace
- 1 minute of rowing at a 2:08 pace
- 2 minutes of cool down at a 2:30 pace
If you are unable to squeeze in this 20-minute exercise every day due to long travel nurse shifts, that's OK. However, you should try to dedicate at least three to four days per week to a fitness routine.
