Bisnar Chase Employees Fundraise to Help Foster Children

Employees at Newport Beach personal injury law firm Bisnar Chase raised about $1,150 to create "sweet cases," which are small suitcases with blankets, activity books and other goodies for foster children who move from home to home.

Newport Beach, Calif. – Newport Beach personal injury law firm Bisnar Chase has raised about $1,150 to benefit foster kids as part of Together We Rise's Sweet Cases program. The money will help create 37 "sweet cases" for foster children who move from home to home. These children are usually given two trash bags in which they carry their belongings during their move.

These "sweet cases," which are basically small suitcases, usually contain items such as soft toys, blankets, activity books and other supplies, which children can take with them. Together, Bisnar Chase employees pitched in to raise $563. The law firm matched the donation.

"I'm touched by the generosity of every member of our team," said Brian Chase, senior partner at Bisnar Chase. "It tells me that our team members care deeply and genuinely about their community."

According to statistics provided by the Orange County Social Services Agency, there are 3,200 children countywide who are placed in foster care. Most are eventually able to return to their birth family and only need temporary foster homes. Some, however, need permanent homes through adoption.

Chase praised the work being done by Together We Rise, a non-profit organization, which aims to improve the lives of foster children, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected. Together We Rise collaborates with community partners to bring resources for foster youth and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers about issues surrounding the foster care system.

The organization has provided thousands of foster youth across the nation with new bicycles, college supplies and suitcases so that children do not have to haul their belongings in trash bags.

Chase said his heart goes out to children who, under extenuating circumstances, are plucked from their homes and are denied the opportunity to have stability and security in their lives. "Providing these 'sweet cases' is a way for us to show them that they are not alone. It's a way to show them that they are in our thoughts and that they are loved."
