Riverton is now one of the several mountain west cities to be part of the 2016 Wild West Skateboard Contest Series joining Jackson, Driggs Idaho and Ketchum Idaho. The competition serious travels throughout the two states hosting individual competitions with an overall winner at the end of the season. The competition Saturday was sponsored by the CWSA and RE/MAX All-Star Realtors.
37 competitors took the the skatepark Saturday for a very hot sweaty competition. Unlike the competition 3 weeks ago, this was a strictly skateboard and did not include scooters or BMX bikes. There were 3 divisions; 12 and under, 13-17 and 18 and over. Each division first had a jam session consisting of 5 skaters at a time who were given 6 minutes to show the judges their best tricks. The top 5 competitors of each division's jam sessions were then given a 90 second solo run to be judged as well. The 18 and over division were allowed 2 jam sessions. Overall it was a successful event and the CWSA board is hoping to be able to build their club and host more events like this one.
