101 Mobility San Antonio Breaks Barriers for 2015 Muscular Dystrophy Muscle Walk

San Antonio, Texas, March 28, 2015101 Mobility San Antonio helped participants rock the MDA South Texas Muscle Walk for the second year in a row this past Saturday. The local mobility and accessibility provider donated an ADA-compliant, modular wheelchair ramp rental to make the event’s signature Awards Stage accessible for Muscle Walk participants with mobility challenges.

In addition to improving the event’s accessibility for South Texas attendees of all abilities, the 101 Mobility San Antonio team decided to have a little fun with a “Pimp my Ride” booth. The booth was modeled after an MTV show, “Pimp My Ride” in which car mechanics alter everyday vehicles into show-stopping rides. Muscle Walk attendees were able to “trick-out” their scooters, power chairs, and wheelchairs with decorative balloons, streamers, and other fun treats.

101 Mobility San Antonio's booth also featured a patient lift demonstration so that attendees seeking to enhance their mobility see the equipment in action. “Volunteering this year was a great experience for myself and the staff,” said Jill Taylor, owner of 101 Mobility San Antonio . “The Muscle Walk kicks off early before the sun is even up so we are glad that our team was able to secure the ramp for the second year in a row,” Jill continued. “We all really enjoy the lively, upbeat atmosphere and how South Texas families come together to accomplish something great on behalf of Muscular Dystrophy.”

The funds generated from the MDA South Texas Muscle Walk 5K Fun Run will provide caregiver and financial support to those affected by neuromuscular diseases and will also fund nationwide research efforts. 101 Mobility San Antonio is excited to participate in 2016 and plans to make the Muscle Walk a staple in their community involvement activities.
